Nicole: Ahh, there are soo many.
1. Bonus Cards- Every other customer complains about the card. Either they don't have it and can't be bothered to sign up for it, forgot to bring it, can't find it, their dog ate it, they believe that they are a conspiracy, their wife carries it (even though they come as a set of 3), they don't shop there often, or it takes up too much room in their wallet. And then it's my fault when they don't end up getting the sale price!

Sherri: yeah i hear ya on that one...i've been a cashier at giant eagle for 3 and a half years now and we get all that crap about the card....but most people do have one anyway.....but people often complain about prices to us--which we don't set....and people are sometimes really rude when a sale price rings up wrong...people on cell phones are the worst---one lady comes thru my line on her cell phone talkin obnoxiously loud--when i tried to ask her for her card for her discount she ignored me twice and later thrust it in my face as she was sliding her credit card...then she got angry at me for trying to tell her her total of what she owed because she was "on the phone" and then as she stormed away she wasn't payin close attention and she ended up pickin up the card of the guy standing behind her and walkin off with it!!! AHHHH!!!!

Nicole: Oh my god, what is it with the people who need to talk on the phone at the grocery store? There is one lady that comes in every week that is like that, she's not on the phone, she's just in a rush. She can hardly be patient enough to sign her check (after I print it for her because she's too lazy to write it out herself). The first summer we got the card I had a guy leave a $150 order sitting on my belt because he refused to sign up for a card or pay full price. I was bawling. It's not my goddamn fault the store instituted a card, and at our store we're threatened that we will be fired if we override the card for people who don't own one, and let me tell you, it is not worth it to me to lose my job for him to save $2.50. And how about the people who think that the cards are a government conspiracy? I really bet the government is interested in what kind of cereal you buy.

Sherri: yeah for real....the f**** gov't doesn't care about ur groceries--the reason that cards exist are so that the store has ur address so they can send u ads and store coupons in order to encourage u to shop there---they also use them in place of u needing ur driver's license when u write a check---and they use them to assist with various promotional savings such as the Fuel Perks program at Giant Eagle--the card keeps track of how much off per gallon of gas u have earned, etc.

Sherri: we also get threatened to lose our job if we scan our own card or make up a card # so if someone doesn't have a card sometimes i'll let them go borrow someone elses or something but people are A******* about having to have a card.

John: Well Sherri, you might not have to worry about THAT for long, considering the mess GetGo has casued you guys. Have you heard about smaller retailers suing Giant Eagle becuase of the Fuel Perks?

Posted: 05-17-2005 01:38 PM

Nicole: Why are they suing them? We had a fuel program w/ Sheetz at Bilo awhile back that if you spent so much on your card you got a $10 gas card.

Nicole: 2. Rude customers - I just had the 3rd customer ask me on Sunday if I was pregnant, and I'm not!! I may not be a size 2 but that doesn't mean I'm having a baby. Hello, that is the MOST rude question you could ever ask a woman.

John: To answer about the suing...people losing money...idiots is MY opinion...and number 2, I totally agree with you.

I am usually the guy to yell at, b/c I will NOT stand up and yell back, but once time this customer asked if the girl I was working was and I quote "on the rag?" THEN he added, have fun working with her...I looked the jagoff RIGHT in the eye, and said " I will, shes my gf." I have never seen a atitude change that quickly!
